Dress code at the new job.

New job is going great so far. I'm particularly fond of the dress code. Shorts and t-shirts, shoes optional.

Goodbye

It is with great fear and anticipation that I say goodbye to my old career path and embark on a new one. Because I cleaned and reorganized before moving, I have already boxed and taken home most of my personal effects.

Stef's Cupcake Project

Some friends decided that they wanted cupcakes for their wedding. Another friend offered to make them all. Her plan is to master the art of the cupcake by the time of the wedding. She seems to be going with a pace of about one recipe per week and then the bride and groom to be will pick their favorites. Stef's rules for the project ...

1. I must like the cupcakes. I refuse to serve anything I don't like. This rules out both peanut butter and mint.
2. The cupcakes are not going to look perfect. I consider myself a good baker but I am not perfectionist. They will look homemade. However, I will try my best to make them look pretty.
3. The cupcakes can't contain nuts because they have a guest allergic to nuts.

This blog is intended to be a way to help her remember the details of all the cupcakes she's made, as well as be a place for those who have sampled the recipes to weigh in on their opinions and for aspiring cupcake bakers to get ideas on what to do and what not to do.

I'm craving root beer.

Carl's Drive In

A classic burger diner, with only about 20 stools from which you can watch your burger cooked on a hot griddle, probably to be washed down with a frozen mug of original-recipe IBC root beer.

Time for a change.

Friday afternoon I received an offer for a new job. After much consideration, I accepted the offer and have just given my letter of resignation to my boss. I have been with this company for almost five years and it is a very weird feeling to say that I'm leaving. My last day will be May 25, 2007.

New office... update

I spent the past few days moving between the old office and the new one. My general goal was to take the opportunity to get rid of the last five years worth of crap and go in to the new space as organized and clean as possible. I am now officially moved in to the cursed office. Let's see what the curse has in store for me.

New office

I've been given the option at work to stay in the previously shared office (with the caveat that I will at some point get kicked out of it or be required to share it again) or move across the hall to the "cursed" office. I'm going to take the solo office. More room space and privacy. I am not concerned about the curse... the two most recent occupants are still alive and well.
